The world time complication, invented in the 1930s by watchmaker Louis Cottier, predates the GMT introduced by Rolex in the 1950s.  Rather than tracking two time zones simultaneously, it displays every time zone simultaneously.  They also tend to have dressier styling than their simpler, GMT counterparts.

After researching multiple mapping projections and implementing countless prototypes, the dual-Lambert projection world time was selected to bring this complication to the Garmin watches.  The two globes on the dial (with either one giving the view form the north and south pole) will rotate fully every 24 hours.  Both globe rotations are synchronized with the UTC time.  The GMT hands can be adjusted to any desired time zones by configuring the “Time 1” option found in the watch face settings.

A careful attention was given to the selection of the hands design.  They are a modernized version of hands found on hold military watches. It’s also worth mentioning  that both the GMT, minute and hour hands are rendered with a drop shadow.  This added attention to detail allows the hands to be visible when overlapping other graphics.

The hour numerals are designed based on vintage chronographs and onboard clocks while the minutes numerals are based on a more recent implementation of an aviation design.  This combination helps keeping a rugged and modern feel.

Obviously, this watch face took a LOT of time and effort to research, design, implement, test, update and support.  I strongly believe that the end result speaks for itself. I am not asking much... Just a donation for all that work to show some appreciation. If my work makes you enjoy your watch, then I believe it's worth it :-)

A: Turn on GPS until you get a green status on any activity to save your last position and everything will be fine. Starting a run/walk should do it. No need to save the activity but times are calculated based on your GPS location for accurate results.
